Executive coaching that dismantles comfortable thinking

Most leaders plateau not because they lack skill, but because no one around them is willing to challenge their assumptions. We are. Based in Wales, working with senior leaders across the United Kingdom and beyond, Strategic Exec Edge provides the structured confrontation your leadership needs to evolve.

Where is your leadership actually leaking value?

Before any coaching engagement begins, we run a diagnostic that identifies the specific patterns holding you — and your organisation — back. No personality quizzes, no vague competency wheels. Instead, we examine four pressure points that reliably predict whether a leader will thrive or stagnate over the next eighteen months.

Decision latency

How long does it take you to commit to a direction once you have the information? We measure the gap between data availability and decisive action, then trace the root causes — fear of political fallout, perfectionism, or a team structure that diffuses accountability.

Strategic drift

Are you still pursuing the priorities you set six months ago, or has the agenda silently shifted? We audit your calendar, meeting cadence, and delegation patterns to reveal where operational noise has displaced strategic intent.

Feedback vacuum

When was the last time someone in your organisation told you something you genuinely did not want to hear? We assess the psychological safety around you — not your team in general, but specifically around you — and design interventions to close the gap.

Succession shadow

If you were removed tomorrow, how quickly could someone step in? Leaders who hoard context create fragile organisations. We evaluate your knowledge-transfer habits and build a plan to make your leadership replicable without making you redundant.

Four phases, no filler

Every engagement follows the same architecture, but the content is radically different each time because it is built from your diagnostic data — not a pre-packaged curriculum.

Phase one — Pressure mapping

A two-week deep dive combining 360-degree stakeholder interviews, calendar analysis, and two intensive face-to-face sessions. The output is a pressure map: a visual document showing where your leadership energy flows, where it pools, and where it leaks. Most leaders find this document uncomfortable. That is the point.

Phase two — Intervention design

We co-create three to five behavioural experiments — specific, time-bound changes to how you lead — each targeting a pressure point from the map. These are not abstract "development goals." They are concrete shifts: a different meeting format, a delegation protocol, a communication cadence. Each experiment has a measurable success criterion agreed in advance.

Phase three — Live coaching

Fortnightly ninety-minute sessions over twelve weeks. Each session reviews experimental data, recalibrates approach, and introduces escalating challenges. Between sessions, you have asynchronous access for real-time decision support — because leadership crises do not schedule themselves on coaching days.

Phase four — Embedding

A final review comparing pre-engagement and post-engagement metrics, plus the creation of a self-coaching protocol so you can sustain the gains without ongoing dependency. We also run a stakeholder check-in to verify that the changes you perceive are visible to the people around you.

Anonymised outcomes from recent engagements

We do not publish testimonial quotes because senior leaders value discretion. Instead, here are verified outcome metrics from the past eighteen months, tagged by sector.

Honest answers to the questions leaders actually ask

Is this therapy disguised as coaching?
No. Therapy explores the past to heal; coaching examines the present to improve future performance. We occasionally recommend therapy when diagnostic data suggests it would be more appropriate, but our work stays firmly in the domain of leadership behaviour, strategic decision-making, and organisational impact.
How much does an engagement cost?
A full four-phase engagement typically runs between £8,000 and £18,000 depending on scope, stakeholder interview volume, and whether sessions are in-person or remote. The diagnostic session is complimentary and carries no obligation — it exists so both sides can determine whether the engagement will generate a return worth the investment.
Can I do this remotely, or do I need to be in Wales?
Roughly half our clients work remotely via secure video. The pressure-mapping phase benefits from at least one in-person session, which we can arrange at our Gleason-le-Boyer office or at a location convenient to you. Beyond that, remote sessions are equally effective — the data shows no meaningful difference in outcomes.
What happens if I do not see results?
At the midpoint of every engagement we review progress against the success criteria set in phase two. If the data shows insufficient movement, we either redesign the experiments at no additional cost or end the engagement and refund the remaining balance. We have exercised this clause twice in five years — both times the leader had undergone a major organisational change that made coaching impractical.
Will my organisation know I am being coached?
That is entirely your decision. Some leaders prefer full transparency because it signals a growth mindset to their teams. Others prefer discretion. We support both approaches and adjust the stakeholder interview process accordingly.
